Origin will not load – Microsoft Community
Close Notepad, restart your computer, and then open Origin to check if the problem persists. It ensures that programs can communicate with the network infrastructure of your system. You might be facing the issue with Origin if the Winsock component has encountered an issue. Many users found that resetting the component is the resolution to the problem in this case.
The process of resetting Winsock involves using Command Prompt, and it is fairly simple and straightforward. Configurations of your previous networks are saved to your DNS cache. The cache file helps Windows remember the parameters of the addresses that you use regularly. Sometimes, though, connectivity issues begin to occur because wrong or obsolete configurations are stored in the DNS cache.
Flushing your DNS to purge the bad configurations in the cache is the way to go in this case. Some reported cases of the issue pointed to software conflicts.
A background application that loads when your computer boots up might be preventing Origin from going online. Performing a Clean Boot is the best way to make sure there is no background interference and fish out the culprit if there is a conflict. When you perform a Clean Boot, your computer will boot up without loading all the startup services and programs that it usually loads. If a startup item is the reason for the problem, Origin will be able to go online.
Launch Origin and check if the client can now go online. If Origin goes online, then a startup program is causing the problem. To fix the issue, you have to start with finding the responsible startup program. Normally, isolating the problem startup program or service involves enabling every single startup service and program one by one, restarting your PC after enabling each one, and checking for the error once your PC comes up. When the problem occurs, then the last program you enabled is the culprit.
However, you can save yourself the stress by following this method instead:. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. I am currently running Windows 10 v which was installed after I started having this problem. I tried to update Origin but but the update wouldn’t install. As I mentioned in my initial post, I have tried many things including installing an old version of Origin from a non-EA website, but although I was able to install it, it would not run and in the compatibility mode settings it was telling me that the program was not compatible.
I have been able to install and run other programs without any difficulty, it’s just Origin that it doesn’t like. I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned in Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed and this will repair any corrupted registry keys, corrupted registry keys that control the update data, etc.
Also, if you have installed any antivirus program except Windows Defender, then I suggest you to disable it by right-clicking on the antivirus program from the Taskbar and clicking on Disable. Note : Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats.
In most cases, you shouldn’t disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you’re done. If you’re connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. My anti virus software expired so I didn’t have any installed until just now, so I dont think that could have been the reason for the problem. Your response doesn’t even address the problem. The files aren’t being blocked from being downloaded, they are blocked from being opened after downloading.
You have to manually go into each file’s properties and uncheck the “unblock” box. When you have to download numerous files from a trusted site, this can be a bit annoying rather than downloading and just opening the file.
